If you are looking for things to do in Pennsylvania, look no further than the Covered Bridges Tour of Amish Country in Lancaster, PA via Scoot Coupes (street legal!) through Strasburg Scooter Tours!
If you are new to the channel, I have a rare muscle disease, so for extended adventures I use my mobility scooter, but I did not bring this along my tour. The scoot coupe I would compare to the height of a toilet when transferring, so I was able to get in and out independently. They provided the helmets, and they had a whole wall of sizes. I also noticed that they sprayed them in case you have any concerns about that. They were experienced accommodating guests with disabilities, and they mentioned that manual wheelchair users are able to strap their chair to the back of the coupe if the customer would like to get out of the coupe and explore.
There are multiple kinds of tours that Strasburg Tours offers, so the locations where you might get out depend on the tour. Also, there are two types of two-wheeled scooters that you could take (single or double seater). You arrive 45 minutes early to learn how to use your intended vehicle of choice - no experience necessary! However, at 3 wheels, the scoot coupe is the most user friendly.
I was going to Philadelphia in September (which was a picture perfect time weather-wise to go) to accept an award for my social media advocacy for chronic illness, rare disease, and disability, and I was looking for something to do between Philadelphia and Hersheypark (I also vlogged that). I found this Scoot Coupe tour, and it just looked so fun and had amazing reviews. I could tell right away that accessibility and inclusion were priorities based on a few things that I saw on their website. When I emailed them about my accessibility questions, they were prompt and detailed when answering. While you have to experience it to really get it, this was even MORE FUN than I predicted!
Admittedly, I was caught up in the scoot coupe of it all before the adventure, but I was most pleasantly surprised the sights that I saw and the history and culture I learned about. Our tour guide was very knowledgable out the scoot coupes and the history of the area which was great. As you will see in the video, he was also an amazing photographer (lol)....
While this isn't on all Covered Bridge tours, we were able to visit the home of an Amish family and ask them about their culture. It was interesting to learn our similarities (i.e. everyone loves a little gossip no matter where you are lol) and to think about how their way of life does have some good points (a greater sense of community, less distractions, etc.). While I have seen these scoot coupe tours pop up other places like San Diego, I can't imagine a place more serene than Amish Country to hit the open roads!
In conclusion, if it seems possible for you and you will be able anywhere near the vicinity of Strasburg, PA, I HIGHLY recommend this tour.
